"We have a rich experience of revolt": can Parkman be the harbinger of mass protests: evaluation of sociology of the RAS

Moskvich Konstantin Altukhov last week almost a day prevented the evacuation of his car. A jeep with a tow truck eventually removed. And the protester became a national hero and role model. Drivers have started more often to thwart evacuation of their cars, and on weekends several dozen motorists tried to make an inconsistent rally against paid Parking. How in demand today in Russia such rebels as Altukhov and what are the chances of the emergence of new forms of civil protest, "the Tape.Roo" spoke to the candidate of philosophical Sciences, head of sociology of conflict at the Institute of sociology, RAS Alexander Kinsbursky.

"Ribbon.news": the History Altukhov has shown that citizens are ready to support the protest for that type of rebel-the loners and follow his example. What this could lead? The society asks for a "policy of rebellion"?

Kinsbursky: I don't think our society is ready to support spontaneous protest, and hence the demand for such here the rebels had not. The fact is that for people who are not connected, for example, with the automotive community, evacuation is not a problem, and act Altukhova — not more than inadequate a trick of the motorist.

Indeed, in this case we are talking about a specific group of the population — the owners. This group almost every day faced with the need to protect their rights, and solidarity within this community is quite a normal thing. This group is also very active in defending their interests and is capable of radical action. Let us recall the "Blue buckets" or Automaidan.

We have other groups capable of organized protest?

Of course. For example, ethnic or religious groups. They are even more cohesive than motorists. There are bikers, football fans. These groups are also quite able to stand up for themselves and push their leader. Try to prevent Moscow's Muslims to hold their religious festival. Or enter a ban on the use of motorcycles in cities.

Protest Altukhov is a really bright case, which is called the support, but do not think that the commitment to support this rebel characteristic for the Russian society as a whole. Such a request does not arise on an empty place. Should occur the need for the leader is any conflict, the accumulated discontent of wide layers of the society. Only then does the query on the leader.

Now such a request, no?

No. You look at the recent Moscow elections. Now the level of dissent is almost nil. There are individual problems of certain groups, but no General grievance, which would unite all the Russian population. Especially inert province. If we go beyond the big cities, there is injustice and various disturbances in the order of things. The people of the provinces organized a protest is incomprehensible.

Why? We see a clear dissatisfaction with education reform. Anti-Western sanctions have hit the Russian population. Prices are rising and incomes are falling. What is not a reason for the protests?

It's all in the specifics of the Russian response. Dissatisfaction is. But how people act in this situation. The first reaction is the desire to adapt. This is confirmed by various sociological research. Increased rates — let's tighten the belt, reduce their costs, save money. Turned the schooling upside down — let's try to adapt with our requests for the new system. If the desired effect is not obtained, then the second reaction is to find some devious moves, ways of additional income. And only then, in third place, is the struggle for their rights. While the first two stages fail, then about a third too early.

It is necessary to wait a little while products would become smaller, but the price will be even higher?

The question is how much less and how much higher. First tightened the belt, then I will go to seek additional sources, including illegal. And then, as they say, the axe in his belt and to free people.

Why is it so? Why in Europe the slightest unfriendly gesture on the part of the government leads to mass protests, and the Russians begin to adapt?

Obviously, this is a national specificity. Most likely the impact of historical experience. This reaction comes from a peasant way of life with its many years of experience of survival, but not of protest. First few centuries of serfdom, where no civil society and protest movements of the speech could not be. While in Europe appeared parliaments and other institutions of a democratic society. Then there was a brief respite for 60 years, and now the Soviet rule, where any protest was suppressed with even greater cruelty. In the following 70 years the fixture has become almost the only way of survival. Perhaps this is why the protest exists in the minds of our citizens as the most recent measure. When it reached the edge. When it is not important what happens later.

That is, compared with the Europeans, we simply have no experience of organized protest?

So. We have rich experience of rebellion, which even Europe might envy.

Is it dangerous?

Very. Because such an extreme measure is in the nature completely unpredictable and wild. This is the Russian revolt — senseless and merciless. The lack of protest movements is the Achilles heel of power. In today's society, an organized civil protest is a form of feedback. If not, then the government already realizes that in this society, has not been able to communicate with him. Support of power goes to some ritual level, the authority it falls, but the power does not notice. And the very society which is deprived of such an organizational bond that's breaking down.

What can happen in our case?

I'm afraid it will be very unpleasant. Kiev Maidan will seem to us a relatively organized form of protest. We will be different. When there is no tradition, no right to Express their discontent, then there is a query on violent leaders who offer their model. Who will carry on this wave is quite unknown. It may not be the person with unhealthy mentality, but thus having obvious inclinations of the leader. The examples are not far to seek.
