Underwater robots from CKB "Rubin" will find and extract hydrocarbons in the Arctic

Arctic shelf development is one of the main challenges facing the Russian economy in the coming decades. In accordance with a new program, Russian companies have in 2018 to proceed with the development of promising prototypes of Autonomous underwater complexes of seismic exploration and drilling, write "Izvestia".

According to experts, underwater robots have an advantage over existing methods, and technical systems, i.e., ground sensors and surface towing system sasmakas.

Among the participants of the program on development of the Arctic — 11 of the Federal bodies of Executive power and the Kurchatov Institute. The program provides for the launching of the floating Observatory "North pole", creating a unified information and telecommunications systems of the transport complex, reconstruction Galickogo ship repair and shipbuilding plant and the active exploration of mineral reserves (in 2021).

At the meeting of the government was made by Dmitry Rogozin. He spoke about the attempts to attract private capital for the formation of the program of creation of the atomic icebreaker "Leader", which can be created at the turn of the years 2024-2025.

Underwater robots — also one of the most promising areas. They will be able to search for and extract hydrocarbons not only in the Arctic but also in any other area of the World ocean. The direct design of facilities will provide the Central design Bureau for marine engineering (CDB me) "Rubin" in collaboration with the Foundation for advanced studies (DRF).

There are technical proposals for the creation of the main subsystems, including subsystems for seismic and Autonomous drilling. Only one "Rosneft" this year plans to conduct a seismic survey on the area of 25 000 km2.

In TSKB "Rubin" has developed the project of a robotic system for seismic exploration. It is a descent to the bottom of the large container with several unmanned submarines. Each submarine is equipped hydro - and geoacoustic sensors. These submarines can be in the Autonomous navigation and to study the shelf for minerals.

Program "Socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation for the period until 2025" foresees "the creation of a full-scale prototype of an underwater complex of seismic exploration and development technology of continuous underwater drilling on the basis of tests of a prototype of the robotic module".

Such a program of development of the Arctic are taken periodically. For example, in 2014 approved the state program "Socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation for the period till 2020", which provides for industrial development of the Arctic shelf, new deposits of strategic metals and other minerals, the social construction of transport infrastructure, including the development of the Northern sea route. Unfortunately, optimistic plans do not always correspond to reality. For example, according to the original plan the "Baltic plant" had to pass nuclear-powered icebreaker of the project 22220 "Arctic" to the end of 2017, but then the schedule shifted to the first half of 2019 — have problems with the supply of turbines Kharkov turbine plant. And not to be able to finish the construction at least 2019.

Early programs of development of the Arctic did not provide funding, but only set a vector of development. Now the program will first allocate the budget.

The draft state program on socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of the country — is a complex of measures on development of the region from 2018 to 2025. In the first three years of the program's developers propose to allocate 12 billion rubles In the following years is 58 billion rubles with the cost of defense amount of investments will reach 144 billion rubles.

Development of underwater robots also will receive funding through DCF. "The calculations of the economic evaluation of the implementation of these technologies confirm the feasibility of their creation, and economic attractiveness. Estimates show significant economic benefits for the Russian Federation and prospects of development of the industry in terms of advantages in the world market", — said the head of the project group FPI Victor Litvinenko.
