When the first space colony?
Material posted: Publication date: 20-08-2017
Our days on Earth are numbered. Great minds predict that humanity must settle themselves on other planets, if he wants to avoid the complete disappearance of some due to probable natural disasters. According to Stephen Hawking, this kind of disaster will happen to Earth in the next 100 years, that leaves us with not much time to prepare

Will mankind to colonize space before the end of the world? The port of Futurism decided to learn the opinion of the readers, and the answers, as expected, very divided. More than 70 percent of people who took part in this survey believe that the first space colony will be built during the first half of the 21st century, with more than 36 percent of these respondents believe that we are talking about 2030-ies, and about 10 percent are sure that the first outer housing people will build in the next decade.

One of such respondents is, for example, Satish Varma, a software engineer. According to him, we will be able to settle on another planet within the next decade or two. His answer due to the level of the pace at which technology is developing space vehicles, artificial intelligence and bionics, which will be the driving forces that will allow us to stay in space long term.

"At the moment there is a sharp technological growth in the field of space research and development of artificial intelligence by companies such as SpaceX, Google, and Tesla," says Varma.

Observations Warmy correct. Companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin, recently has succeeded in developing reusable missiles which will definitely be the key to the accessibility of space travel. Google, in turn, is actively developing AI, and has recently celebrated the creation of algorithm that can learn almost as fast as we are making this technology more practical for actual use, for example, to control the spacecraft.

What do the experts say?

The technological revolution has prompted not only various companies but also governments of different countries to think seriously about the idea of space colonization. The two most attractive targets for human occupation at the moment are Mars and the Moon. The latter, in turn, is now undeservedly little attention, but according to expert scientists, the mankind will be able to build a colony in about 6 years and a little less than $ 10 billion. The Chinese and the European space Agency very carefully considering building bases on the moon, as in this case it will be possible to dramatically reduce the cost of sending spacecraft to other planets of the Solar system, including Mars.

As for red planet, the latest example is the announcement by the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reported about the desire to build the settlement by 2117. Other countries are likely to do it much earlier. For example, the American government instructed the space Agency NASA to put a man on Mars by 2033. China's goal is even more ambitious – over the next ten years.

However, the CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk hopes to prove how much more effective can be the work of private space companies than with the government bureaucracy. He plans also means sending people to Mars by 2020, but this is not the only goal of both the Mask and his company. A businessman wants to make the journey to the red planet affordable enterprise, and therefore set the bar at $ 200,000 per ticket. The mask thus really wants to turn us into an interplanetary species, and not just to organize a research expedition. This approach, in his opinion, will be critical for the future of the human race.

"History tells us that sooner or later, but the big catastrophe will come. I think you will agree that it is better to become an interplanetary species," said Musk during the press conference.

"I want to make the journey to Mars is real. And I think we have the possibility of implementing this plan within our generation."

It would be interesting to know the opinion of our readers. Do humanity reached the point where we have time to think about the possibility of settling on other planets, or all is still science fiction, realize that will not be soon?
