How to read 10 books in 2 days: methods of speed reading without training
Material posted: Publication date: 06-12-2019
To read 20 books in a week, no need to learn the techniques of speed reading, to enroll in courses and pass the online training. Use simple methods and will be able to gain knowledge in 15 times faster than the others.

What you need to start

To begin, prepare a list of books and then sort them by topics. In one sitting we recommend that you read books one subject. You can add one or two books on a similar theme, but move in the opposite direction is not necessary. At least in early practices.

How to choose books

Technique is suitable to read literature non-fiction: books on business, self-development, psychology and other popular scientific and information publications. If you don't know what to read, take ideas from the collections in the Network. Go to the forums or community are interested in direction, usually there are topics with lists of literature. The easiest option: open a directory book store or the apps, and view popular book. Will also help the selection of new products from publishers, the book tops bestseller lists.

Where to borrow books

If you need no books in your home library, you have two options.

1. Go to the bookstore and find the shelf with the desired theme

Master speed reading advise you to read books right in the store and better standing. Supposedly it's faster to digest information. If you do not want to check this assertion, it is possible to sit in many good bookstores have chairs.

2. Train on electronic books

Usually practicing speed reading does not suggest to read from the screen. It is believed that the paper edition is easier to read quickly. I do not share this view and successfully "swallow" books.

Recommend to download app-reader with a monthly subscription. In such applications have free trial period, and then the tariff is not higher than the cost of one or two books. Reading 50-60 books a month, you will more than cover the subscription.

First day: speed Dating with books

Go to the bookstore, take the books home shelf or open a file in the application. The first day will allocate a maximum of 15 minutes for each book. Some books will leave 20-25 minutes or 8-10 minutes.

Open the book and try to "absorb" its structure. Read the text on the flyleaf, then look at the cover. Carefully read the table of contents. If you need specific information or a solution to the issue, focus on finding the answer.

Take a pencil or mark with a highlighter in the reader especially interested in the topic. If you read in the store or library, take notes in Notepad or memo application. Choose topics that are interesting to you right now, solve this problem. Do not try to accommodate as much information as possible.

Next 15 minutes try to peruse the whole book, read the headers, frame, to grasp the main point of each Chapter. Be sure to read everything in bold, review the labels and lists.

In the first stage the main task is to understand what is written in the book and where to find that information.

Estimate for yourself how much the book of water, and how useful and new. If you follow the genre of non-fiction, you know that almost any book is a third of the stories about the personal life of the author, numerous examples, with biographical information and minor details. If you want to cover a lot of books in the short term, this information needs to be filtered. Focus on the main ideas, thoughts, tips, try to get to the bottom.

Write reviews

After review of each book and realize that can be drawn from it, leave feedback. I recommend you to look through the reviews of previous readers — you can learn from them something new.

Please note: you do not need to strive to write a full review, you need emotional assessment of a new book.

Assessment creates a specific label in mind. The opinion is a "tick" that says that you are familiar with the book, now it's for you, not someone else's.

Don't be lazy, comment and rate. If you do not want to publicly Express opinion, make notes for yourself, record thoughts about the book, rate it on a 10-point scale.

Day two: read only thing

The next day, when the information settles in the head, get acquainted with the books closer. Not all books the first day will advance to the second stage. It often happens that the cover page, abstract and title is attractive but inside there is nothing new and useful. Or the author's style off-putting.

Feel free to discard books that don't liked: the first impression is most likely not cheating. If the book is really useful and important, you have to meet her.

Selected books read the chapters that we are particularly attracted and share the most interesting and important information. Many believe that you need to read books strictly from beginning to end, in order of chapters. This is a misconception. Read only those chapters that you're eager to learn. Underline the most interesting (if you read in the store, then from memory write down the houses that you especially remember from these chapters, what questions you found the answers).

If the book is completely interesting and each Chapter in it useful — set it aside and read the whole thing. These books will encounter rarely. In the first months of practice 3-4 books a month, more — less.

How to study the most interesting books

The books that you selected as the most interesting and important, can be read in full. A good way to remember and organize the main thing — to make a map of thoughts (mind map) for each Chapter. If you love working with paper and pen, write a brief synopsis. Try not to read too much into, no matter how exciting the book. Set yourself a time limit for each Chapter and the limit of days you want to spend on the book as a whole. Personally, I do a little synopsis of chapters 10-12 for 2 hours.

When finished, write a more detailed review than the first day of practice. Separately list the pros and cons of the book, your rating.

Tips from personal experience

1. Get rid of stereotypes about reading

Do not have to read the book from the first page to the last. It does not matter how much time you will spend reading and how many sheets to master. Practice shows that the 15-minute encounter with the book often leaves the head in the same information as would have left the reading of all the chapters in a row during the month.

2. Do not try to remember all that you have read, or memorize a book

The main goal is to extract information as needed, and not know all of them.

3. If fast reading is buzzing the head is scary

Don't give up and stop practicing. At first, so be it, there is nothing unusual, this does not mean that you are doing something wrong. Just give information, to lie down.

4. Parallel to read one fiction book slowly and with pleasure

Find one book that brings you pleasure. Leisurely reading interesting literature — a great contrast and a rest for the brain.

The result is a two-day practice

Follow the instructions and tips during the two days you will:

  • browse 10 books to choose the best and get to know them closer;
  • to read main information, to grasp the main idea of each book;
  • to highlight the most useful, and to make notes;
  • to absorb the book's structure and easy to navigate it the next time without any problems find the desired information;
  • to remember and to learn from each book no less than if you read it a month from cover to cover.
