The Minister of defence of Germany Ursula von der Leyen denied on Sunday a statement by the President of the United States Donald trump that Berlin should Washington and NATO a lot of money in exchange for military protection provided.
"We have no debts to NATO," reads the statement of the head of the German Ministry of defence, excerpts of which leads the European press.
"Defense expenditures also include the UN peacekeeping mission, the missions in Europe and contribution to our fight against terrorism and IG group (banned in Russia - Interfax)", - stated in the document.
The day before trump said: "...nevertheless, Germany needs a lot of money, NATO and the United States. We have to pay more for the powerful and very expensive defense system that the US provide to Germany."
On Friday, Angela Merkel and Donald trump held talks in Washington.
