Kazakhstan stands for the transition to settlements in national currencies between the countries of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO). This was stated by the head of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov.
— Believe it is possible to start mutual settlements in national currencies, he said. — We already have developments at the bilateral level, which could translate into the entire organization, — said Massimov at the meeting of the Council of heads of governments of the SCO. — Previously, we have repeatedly emphasized the need to implement economic projects that can demonstrate the practicality of the SCO. To this end, we support the speedy launch of the mechanisms of financial support for project activities within the SCO framework.
And for the effective implementation of the projects of the participating countries must "strengthen," which may be the creation of a common Bank of the participating countries, agreed present.
— A burning subject necessary for successful project organization, — said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. — It is necessary to determine how this will work.
According to Medvedev, shared a Bank may be established on the basis of successfully operating in the region Eurasian development Bank.
The SCO was formed in 2001, currently its members are Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The observers are Mongolia, India, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. In September Pakistan and India filed official bids for accession to the SCO.
