Turkey has launched a gas pipeline bypassing Russia

In the Turkish province Eskisehir hosted a launch TRANS-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) for transportation of blue fuel from Azerbaijan, which was attended by the presidents of Turkey, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and the leader of the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mustafa Akinci, head of energy ministries of several countries and heads of energy companies.

— Today is a historic day. TANAP was the result of multilateral cooperation. I am particularly pleased that we are opening it before the scheduled time. The project will employ ten thousand people, — said Erdogan at the opening ceremony, after which the heads of state undertook a symbolic valve.

The southern gas corridor, part of which is the TANAP project is important for the diversification of energy supply of Turkey and EU countries.

Throughput capacity of TANAP will be 16 billion cubic meters per year. About six billion cubic meters is scheduled to pick up Ankara, the remaining gas will go to Europe.
