Why Israel is ready to help Russia in its war with Turkey
Material posted: Publication date: 21-04-2016

A few weeks ago, ATT military aircraft of the Russian Federation deepened for 1 mile into Israeli air space and NOT ... was shot down by Israeli air force/air defense. On the contrary MO of Israel were sympathetic to the struggle of the Russians against Turkey ... what was admitted by the Minister of defence himself:

"I remind you, a year ago, we have shot down a Syrian fighter that had invaded our territory, and we also shoot down drones. But with the Russians when we realized that they are planning an operation in Turkey, had a meeting. And we have created channels of communication to avoid misunderstandings. The Russian plane did not try to attack us, and therefore, even if there was error, there was no need to shoot it down".

(Israeli defense Minister Moshe ya'alon)

Why did this happen? Why is Israel so vehemently doesn't like Turkey and is willing to help a "Russian" in that fight? To understand this, we need to remember history and to understand all the wars of this small country on the Mediterranean sea.

Regional power

For a start look at is, who are the superpower, regional powers, what are their differences and what is the role of each.

With an understanding of superpowers, it's pretty simple. It is a state with interests and opportunities to protect them not only in the region of your location, but anywhere in the world. The first was the British Empire. Through control of the seas, it had interests everywhere and successfully defended them.

The British Empire was replaced on the throne of the USA, and later in the race after the leader ran the USSR. What was common between them all? The influence of the superpowers in remote regions almost never relied on their own strength. Each of them found in the place of force, which agreed to "guard" the interests of the hegemon, not forgetting along the way about his.

Usually this is the role of the so-called regional powers. Here there is a symbiosis. Superpower saves power, and regional power, based on the "overlord" manages on behalf of the region.

The middle East is very young and hot region. The artificiality of the boundaries originally laid under stability time bomb. All the wars and conflicts that smolder and flare up here with an enviable regularity, associated with this. The role of regional leader in this case, becomes very important, even crucial.

And here we come to the main problem of Israel.

SAR-LIGHTS. In 1958 was created the Federation of the two States of Egypt and Syria. Egypt in the 1950s against young of the Middle Eastern States was a regional hegemon, able to impose their views of neighbors. Together with other territories that have recently become States, Egypt could become a full-fledged regional power, whose views were to consider all. Even the United States. That is why the USSR jumped at the chance to take over the region and began vigorously to help the Arab coalition. And Israel of course, immediately became a bitter enemy of the new education.

Then there was a series of wars, the attempted transformation of the Union in which periodically, in addition to these States included and Libya. Formally, the new state was declared in 1971. And then there was the dissolution of the Union on 11 November 1977.

And on November 19, President Saddat of Egypt visited Jerusalem, which was a significant milestone.

These two events are very closely linked. In fact, the camp David accords put an end to the wars of Egypt and Israel and in the claims first to be the leaders of the region. The conflict disappeared when the background disappeared.

Iran. The triumph of Israel was short lived. The emergence of Iran as the Caliphate of all Muslims and Shi'ite Muslims, not only gave new impetus to the confrontation line on Israel-Syria, but also became the harbinger of a new battle, where tel-Aviv once again had to defend the right to be called the only regional superpower in the region.

This opposition goes so far. It is the unwillingness to have any competitor, pushes Israel on such radical steps. While this fight he loses. Iran, through war and sanctions had been established in quite a strong opponent who in recent years went on the attack (Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia).

Turkey. Thus, there were two. And then the number of "regionals" had increased to three. Turkey under the rule of Erdogan changed his kemaliyskoe tradition to look to Europe and began building a new Ottoman Empire. And she could not deal with Israel.

Israel the rise of Turkey and its transformation into a "new Ottoman Empire" is as inadmissible as the emergence of a powerful "nuclear Iran". Israel can more or less safely only exist surrounded by countries much less powerful militarily than it is. The emergence of any hegemonic power in the region dramatically changes in the balance. And not always in favor of Israel. That is why he is so consistent in the fight against all such threats in the region, starting with the Federation of Arab Republics, which included Egypt, Libya and Syria, and to Iran and Turkey.

When you're alone, the world surgeries no choice, they have to agree with you and you have 100% ability to impose its will on the region. When you already have two, you have to fight. And your chances of winning are reduced exactly by half. If you have three, they become prohibitively small.

Israel's policy is simple and complex at the same time. Her goal in any conflict is to destroy the other side, who wants to become a regional power in the Middle East. But to achieve this becomes more difficult from year to year. And, apparently, Israel will always fight for your region's unique status as the basis for their survival.

Israel has no permanent allies, it has permanent interests. That is why Israel is so openly smiling now, and Russia is ready to help her destroy her enemies.
