Operation in Syria

11 Dec. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed to return from Syria, a significant part of the Russian military contingent. This statement he made on the air base in Hamima, speaking to the Russian military.

Combat experience

Invaluable combat experience in Syria have received more than 48 thousand soldiers of the Russian Army. Of these, more than 14 thousand state awards.

The Syrian operation was tested many samples of Russian military equipment. The 215 types of weapons. During the military use identified 702 drawback and flaws, 99% of which has already been removed.

The task of destroying the warlords and terrorist targets in the deep rear were solved by special operations forces. They also adjusted air strikes and artillery fire with the use of advanced guidance systems and targeting systems.

For most fighters, using high-precision long-range missiles "Caliber" and X-101. Ships and submarines suffered 100 blows, and the aircraft of strategic aviation – 66 strikes, at a distance of from five hundred to a thousand kilometers. Each missile hit the designated target.

Special operations forces demonstrated professionalism and willingness to perform the most difficult tasks.

80% of crews tactical and 90% of army aviation have 100 - 120 sorties. Long-range aircraft crews received a practice of attacking important targets of the militants. All aircraft of Russian air force for two years, made 34 thousand sorties.

For the first time in the fighting took part in the naval aviation pilots of heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser "Admiral of Soviet Union N. G.Kuznetsov". They made 420 sorties.

The s-400, s-300 and "Armour" together with fighter aircraft provided the complete superiority of our HQs in Syrian airspace. There had been no violation of the security zones of the Russian bases in Tartous and Mamimi.

The results

To date, the Syrian Arab Republic are fully functional aviation group of the Russian space forces at the airfield Hamim and the point of logistics of the Navy in Tartus. It created a modern military and social infrastructure.

Their presence will allow us to maintain strategic stability in the region, to constrain possible infiltration of terrorist groups in Syria and neighbouring countries.

To create conditions for a political settlement of the conflict currently ongoing preparation of the Congress of the Syrian national dialogue. It invited the representatives of all ethnic and religious groups, political parties and armed groups in Syria.

The situation in Ukraine

The deadweight loss of the Ukrainian army in 2017 at 191 soldier. Irrecoverable losses include those killed in battle, missing and prisoners. Another 174 soldiers were wounded.

In General, the sanitary losses of the Ukrainian army in 2017 (wounded, injured and sick) are 1265 military personnel.

At the end of October, the General staff reported total losses of the Ukrainian army from the beginning of the operation in the East of the country in April 2014. As 28.10.2017 combat losses amounted to 10 710 members of the armed forces of Ukraine, including irrevocable 2333, sanitary - 8377 (wounded and injured in the fighting).

18 Dec. The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation informed about the termination of the Russian military in the Joint center for control and coordination of ceasefire and stabilization of the situation in the South-East of Ukraine (SCCC) because of the actions of the Ukrainian side.

23 Dec. The United States took the decision to supply Ukraine "advanced defenses" in the framework of Washington's efforts to strengthen the country's defense. Suggesting deliveries of anti-tank weapons worth $47 million To a specified party may be included an anti-tank missile systems Javelin.

Under the veil of the outgoing year in the Donbass was held with a large-scale exchange of prisoners between the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics and Kiev. In the DNI and LC returned 238 people, but controlled by Ukrainian government territory — 73.

THE NORTH KOREAN CRISIS

2017 for a verbal altercation between the "mad old man" (so dubbed US President in the DPRK) and "man-rocket" (so dubbed North Korean leader, the President of the United States) watched the whole world. Worsened the situation due to the fact that North Korea recently stepped up its missile and nuclear program. US and UN has imposed on North Korea in 2017, following sanction.

June 2, 2017: UN banned from international travel and froze the assets of four North Korean companies and 14 citizens of North Korea, including the head of intelligence of this country.

6 August 2017: the UN has banned the export of North Korean coal and other raw materials, and also introduced restrictions on investments in North Korean economy. These measures have cost Pyongyang about one billion dollars (about 30% of all revenues from North Korean exports).

Despite this, the DPRK on November 29 launched a ballistic missile "And 15". Since then, North Korea stated that it can now deliver nuclear strikes throughout the United States.

This was followed by new sanctions. North Korea has described new sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council on Pyongyang, an act of war.

Meanwhile...

Specialist in defense and national security of the United States, Professor Robert Farley has named five countries and regions, which in 2018 could unleash a Third world war.

First Farley puts the DPRK due to its development of ballistic missiles. In the event of war it will be involved Japan and China. He also notes that the inexperience of the administration of U.S. President Donald trump made the situation on the Korean Peninsula the most serious foreign policy crisis in the world at the moment.

Second place in your list the Professor gave to Taiwan. He notes that China has strengthened its military presence in the region, despite the protests of the United States, which, in turn, increase the supply of arms to the island.

Third place in the list from the Ukraine. According to Farley, the situation there remains tense because of the constant violations of the truce in the South-East of the country. In addition, the story around Mikheil Saakashvili protests in Kiev testify to the instability of the current government. The worst consequence of its collapse can be the victory of right-wing forces, which will further inflame the conflict in the Donbass, and a full-fledged war between Russia and the West, says the Professor.

In last place in the list of possible sources of war was the Persian Gulf. Threat Professor found the actions of Saudi Arabia, which openly announced the possibility of creating a military and diplomatic coalition against Iran and announced the possibility to include Israel. Moreover, the Bay is a zone of Russia's interests, he said.

Fears Farley also called the situation in Turkey and the whole southern flank of NATO. In his opinion, the estrangement of Ankara from the EU and the USA and rapprochement with Russia lead to a significant change in the balance of forces in the region. This, in turn, will affect the situation in Syria, Iraq, Iran, the Balkans and the Caucasus.

NEW RUSSIAN WEAPONS

The Russian army in the near future should obtain military equipment based on new physical principles, hypersonic weapons and anti-aircraft missile system of new generation s-500. This was stated by the Russian presidential aide on MTC issues Vladimir Kozhin.

What is known

S-500 belongs to a new generation of antiaircraft missile systems "earth-air". It is a universal set of long-range and high-altitude interception with increased potential missile defense and is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. Prospective AAMS is capable of hitting not only ballistic, but also aerodynamic targets (aircraft, helicopters and other air targets), as well as cruise missiles. The system has a radius of 600 kilometers and will be capable of detecting and simultaneously affect up to ten ballistic supersonic targets flying at a speed of seven kilometers per second. She also can defeat warheads hypersonic missiles. According to its characteristics, the s-500 is significantly exceed standing armed s-400 and its us competitor, the Patriot Advanced Capability 3. Previously also reported that in 2016, the Russian military has twice tested a hypersonic aircraft designed to replace the traditional perspective warheads for Intercontinental ballistic missiles and capable of overcoming missile defense.

Modernized Tu-160M2 will carry a new long range cruise missiles

The modernized Russian strategic bombers Tu-160 M2 will be calculated on the latest Russian cruise missile long-range X-DB. As stated supervisor of the State scientific-research Institute of aviation systems (GosNIIAS) Yevgeny Fedosov, now in the project of modernization of strategic bombers Tu-160M includes the ability of the aircraft to carry on Board so-called missile X-DB. The range of its actions are still classified, but we know that its predecessor Х101 has a launch range of three thousand km.

What is known

In October 2016, Deputy defense Minister Yuri Borisov told journalists about the plans of the military Department to obtain from the Russian aviation industry dozens of new strategic bombers Tu-160M2. It was reported that the first model of modernized strategic bomber Tu-160, known in the Soviet air force and Russian "White Swan" should take off in 2018. And since 2020 it is planned to start serial production of Tu-160M2

"Sarmatian" will be done serially

"Krasmash" - a major manufacturer of Intercontinental ballistic missiles, sea-based "Blue" and "Liner" ready to start serial production of a new heavy ballistic missile "Sarmat". Her arrival into service scheduled for 2018. This missile will replace the most powerful ballistic complexes RS-20V "Governor" (NATO classification — SS-18 Mod.3 Satan), who for more than 25 years form the basis of ground-based groupings of the strategic nuclear forces of Russia.

What is known

About the "Sarmat" is not much known. The new machine will be twice as easier "Magistrates" and surpass it in energy efficiency. Deputy defense Minister Yuri Borisov, said that "missile's range exceeds 11 thousand kilometers." Improved power characteristics will allow to equip "Sarmat" additional means of overcoming the us missile defense system. The new missile will be able to withstand the space echelon strike weapons, and run it can be from almost any area and in all directions. That is, to strike at targets not only across the North, as it is now, but the South pole. In this case, the "energy effect" "Sarmat" will not through the use of new formulations of fuel - it will remain the same as in other Russian missiles. And due to the improvement of the design of the machine itself. That is, from this we can conclude that Russia has created not just a "changer" "Satan" and a new strategic system. Tests "Sarmatian" coming in 2016.

With the highest security classification

In Russia to create electronic ammunition that could bring the enemy vehicles out of action due to the powerful microwave pulse. This was reported by the Advisor to the first Deputy CEO of the concern "Radioelectronic technologies" Vladimir Mikheev.

In some media appeared information that the enterprises of the Russian defense-industrial complex has created a powerful electromagnetic missile "Alabuga", having a combat unit with the electromagnetic field generator of high power. It was reported that it can be a blow to cover the territory of 3.5 kilometers and disable all the electronics, turning it into "a pile of scrap metal".

Mikheev explained that "Alabuga" is not a specific weapon: this cipher in 2011-2012 completed the whole complex of scientific research, which identified the main directions of development of electronic weapons of the future.

"There was a serious theoretical assessment and practical work on laboratory layouts and special polygons, which determined the range of electronic weapons and its impact on equipment," he said.

This impact can be of varying intensity: "Starting with the usual jamming effects with a temporary withdrawal of weapons systems and military equipment of the enemy down up to its complete electronic failure, leading to energy, destructive damage of major electronic components, circuit boards, units and systems".

After finishing this work all the data on the results were closed, and the subject of microwave weapons fall into the category of critical technologies with the highest security classification, said Mikheyev.

"Today we can say that these developments are translated into concrete development work on the creation of electromagnetic weapons: ammunition, bombs, rockets, carrying special explosion generator", - noted Mikheev.

Such developments are all leading world powers - particularly the US and China, he concluded.

For Russian airborne troops ordered a new lethal gun "Lotus"

Airborne troops of Russia will soon be armed with Avialesookhrana artillery self-propelled gun "Lotus" of caliber of 120 millimeters. Its serial production will establish by 2020. Paratroopers are guns vital, because in the rear, and in isolation from the main forces without strong artillery support is not enough. The latest gun will meet all the requirements that are put forward to the landing-propelled guns. It can be transported by airplane and drop with a parachute, together with the crew. For the gun provides light weight with high firing efficiency. In the manufacture of "Lotus" is used to steady rifle and machine-gun fire aluminum armor, and highly durable grade of steel.

What is known

Accurate specifications "Lotus" not yet sounded. However, from scraps of information, it becomes clear that cannon created a unique munition with the modernization and supply of new control system and barrel with extended life. In the "Lotus" will use the experience gained in the development of self-propelled artillery secret project "Saurait-D". This vehicle was issued in two versions - with a gun caliber of 120 mm and 152 mm - and used as a mortar, howitzer and gun. The project was brought to the testing stage, but then at the initiative of the Ministry of defence, the work was suspended. Production of "Saurait" the army refused.

Develop engine for fighters of the 5th generation T-50

Developed for the fighter of the 5th generation T-50 engine will have a thrust of about 20% more than the engines of the previous generation. This was stated by General Director of United engine Corporation (UEC) Alexander Artukhov.

What is known

Today, the aircraft T-50 is equipped with a so-called engine of the first stage on the basis of AL-41ФП. The new engine will allow T-50 to make a long flight at supersonic speeds. Artyukhov said that the thrust of the engine AL-41F, which is equipped with the plane of generation 4++ Su35, T-50, increased in comparison with the engine AL-31FP is installed on aircrafts of the Indian air force's su-30MKI, approximately 18% and 14.5 tonnes instead of 12.5 tons. Fighter T-50 (promising aviation complex tactical aviation, PAK FA), developed by the design Bureau "Dry" for the Ministry of defence. The first flight of the aircraft made 29 January 2010.

T-50 is a multi-purpose fighter of the 5th generation, designed to replace VCS in the Russian fighters su-27 and su-30. The fighter of the 5th generation (promising aviation complex tactical aviation, PAK FA), developed by the design Bureau "Dry" for the needs of Ministry of defense of Russia. The first flight of the aircraft made 29 January 2010. Today, the aircraft is equipped with a so-called engine of the 1st stage, an improved engine AL-41. The new engine will allow the aircraft to perform a long flight at supersonic speed.

Russia has created a full-scale model of promising aviation complex Distant aviation (PAK DA)

This plane is designed for Air and space forces of the Russian Federation in the company "Tupolev". It is expected that its first prototype will take to the air at the turn of 2025– 2026 years. Initially it was assumed that the aircraft will begin to enter the army in 2023-2025 years, and the first test flight was scheduled for 2019-2020. It was reported that yet assembled a full-size wooden mock-up cockpit of the PAK DA, without wings. It worked out in the crew accommodation and arrangement of equipment. A layout of composite materials made on a scale of 1:10 and can fly.

What is known

PAK DA will not be deep modernization of Tu-160 (the informal name of "White Swan"), and entirely new aircraft. Tu-160 will be made separately, earlier it became known about the resumption of its production in the modernized version of the Tu-160M-2 it is Assumed that the PAK DA will be possible to apply technology to reduce radar visibility (stealth). In particular, his design of radar absorbing materials, and all the weapons will be placed inside the aircraft. It is also known that the aircraft will receive a subsonic flight, it will make it lower noise and reduce visibility in the infrared range.

Also, the PAK DA will be equipped with the latest Russian electronic warfare (electronic warfare), which has no analogues in efficiency. According to open sources, there are about ten different configurations of the aircraft of the future, but the first model of the PAK DA made under the scheme "flying wing". Research under this scheme has been since the late 80-ies of the last century in Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Zhukovsky (TSAGI). The essence of the concept lies in the fact that the fuselage of the aircraft is reduced — it is the role of one large wing, which houses all the units and systems of the aircraft, and armament. "Flying wing" does not have a tail horizontal stabilizer, although it may have one or two of the keel. This scheme allows to achieve higher values of aerodynamic quality, to reduce takeoff weight, improve fuel and economic efficiency of the aircraft. In 2014, one of the international exhibitions, the representative of the United engine Corporation reported that the engine for the PAK DA will be created on the basis of the gas turbine engine NK-32 of the second stage installed on the Russian strategic bomber Tu-160. The enterprises of the concern "Radioelectronic technologies" (KRET) is already developing avionics for future aircraft. Kret, together with the company "Tupolev" involved in OKR (experimental design work). The aircraft will receive a fundamentally new system of electronic warfare. According to the head of the group, Nikolay Kolesov, the plane will apply not only new, but already proven technologies.

ABOUT THE TESTS

In the Russian Federation is currently testing hypersonic aircraft (GLA), and the development of such technologies is one of the priority areas of research of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS). This was announced during a press conference in TASS, dedicated to the achievements of the scientific institutes of SB RAS in the field of security and defense of Russia.

"Hypersonic we have above us. It was perfectly shown how well we shoot, and the camera (hypersonic aircraft - ed.) drifted wherever necessary. If we had the work not been terminated in the 1990-ies, at the present time, the results would have been much better. This information in the context of what is published in the press," - said the Director of the Institute of theoretical and applied mechanics to them. S. A. Khristianovich, academician Vasily Fomin.

In addition, during the press conference were shown a slide with content, according to which the development of hypersonic technologies to create new types of active-reactive shells, controlled hypersonic cruise missiles and hypersonic aircraft with airspeed to a value equal to M=12 (12 times the speed of sound - approx.) is one of the priority areas of research of the SB RAS in the interests of national security.

Tests complete: for "Iskander" is preparing a new missile

At the site "Kapustin Yar" was testing a new missile for operational-tactical missile complex "Iskander". PTRC "Iskander-M" is designed for covert preparation and application of high-precision missile strikes on targets in tactical depth with a guaranteed range of from 50 to 500 kilometers, in the various theatres of action, in any conditions, including with the active opposition of the enemy with missile defences and electronic warfare.

ABOUT THE REARMAMENT OF THE BLACK SEA FLEET (BSF)

In 2017, three years old as Crimea officially became part of the Russian Federation. Before that the black sea fleet (BSF) stationed on the Peninsula on the Ukrainian-Russian agreements and, since 1997, has been strengthened with just one missile hovercraft "Samum" and Sukhoi su-24.

Than armed the Crimea after reunification with Russia?

By the end of 2015 black sea fleet received more than 200 units of new weapons and military equipment, with about 40 ships, 30 aircraft (including the su-30CM). Part of the coastal forces was added 140 items of modern armored equipment. On duty in the Crimea, took up modern coastal missile systems "Bastion".

By the end of 2016 the black sea fleet received the greatest number of new ships and submarines compared to other fleets of Russia. And it ships continued to bear the constant combat duty in the Mediterranean squadron, re-formed in 2013.

Crimea also has been strengthened anti-aircraft missile system s-400 "Triumph", was relocated complexes "Carapace-C", su-30CM and coastal missile systems "Bastion".

According to plans until 2020, the Navy should receive about 50 new ships and support vessels.

Submarine

Fully equipped underwater component of the BSF. Diesel-electric submarine of project 636.3 (code "Varshavyanka") became one of the first modern ships built in Russia's recent history. Six submarines of the improved project, based in Novorossiysk and Sevastopol. In October 2016, the combat strength of the Navy includes the submarine "Velikiy Novgorod" project 636.3. The sixth and final in this series, the diesel-electric submarine "Kolpino" was transferred to the Navy 24 Nov.

The first two — "Novorossiysk" and "Rostov-on-don" — was given by the military in 2014, two more — "Stary Oskol" and "Krasnodar" — in 2015. Thus, the construction of the first series of submarines for the Navy is fully completed.

Patrol and "Violent"

In 2016, the fleet was supplemented patrol "Admiral" series, equipped with attack missile complex "Caliber-NK". The lead ship of the series 11356 "Admiral Grigorovich" was adopted in the combat fleet March 11, 2016. In may, he arrived in Sevastopol, and in November performed the task in the part of ship groups Navy in the Eastern Mediterranean sea.

The second frigate of this series "Admiral Essen", was included in the combat composition of the fleet June 7.

The third ship of this series "Admiral Makarov", which is now undergoing state tests in the Baltic sea, are planned to be transferred to the Navy in the near future.

According to the developers, these ships will be the reliable workhorses of the fleet in the coming years.

In 2015 the black sea fleet was replenished with two small missile ships (MRK) "Serpukhov" and "Green Dol" project 21631 "Buyan-M", equipped with missiles "Caliber". Now at the Zelenodolsk plant in Tatarstan for the black sea fleet built four more ships of this project. The black sea should be one of the first fleets, which will receive a multi-purpose missile and artillery ships near sea area of 22800 project "Karakurt". It is assumed that they will complement the "violent" actions on the shallow and coastal areas of the Black and Mediterranean seas. "Widow" is slightly smaller in displacement than the "brawlers" (800 tons), but will also be equipped with "Caliber".

The first two ships built at the shipyard "Pella" in the Leningrad region, the third laid on the Feodosia factory "Sea". At the Zelenodolsk plant is built and the four newest modular patrol ships of project 22160. It is expected that the court will be included in each of the four fleets of Russia.

In the future the BSF will receive the rescue ship, the same type of "Igor Belousov", as well as a new ship logistics (sea tug) project 23120. It is expected that the repairs and upgrades in 2018 may be sent to one of the warring ships of the Russian Navy — the flagship of the black sea fleet guards missile cruiser "Moscow".

Aviation

In the spring of 2016 in the Crimea was formed by a squadron of eight planes Су30СМ. In the fall of the Naval aviation of the black sea fleet has added four more fighters. The aircraft was built at the Irkutsk aviation plant and transferred to the fleet, the programme to upgrade the fleet. They became part of separate Maritime attack aviation regiment, black sea fleet based in the Crimean airfield of Saki. Pilots of Naval aviation of the black sea fleet began operating the su-30SM in the Crimea in January 2015. These supersonic fighters will replace the su-24, which was the basis of the fleet of the Naval aviation of the black sea fleet and gradually removed from service.

Anti-aircraft and coastal defense

In January 2017 on combat duty have taken up the complex air defense (ad) s-400 "Triumph". According to the commander of the 4th army of VVS and PVO Victor Sevastyanov, its capabilities allow not only to protect the Crimean Peninsula, and part of Krasnodar region. The armed guards anti-aircraft missile Sevastopol-Feodosia regiment was replenished in 2016. The personnel of the regiment successfully passed retraining, and in September last year as part of a large-scale exercise "Кавказ2016" held a training missile launches. In addition to s-400 on the Peninsula will be placed and other defenses that would allow to counter anti-radar missiles of a potential enemy. In 2014 on the coast of the Crimea were deployed battery coastal missile complex "Bastion". In September of the same year, during the exercises, the missile complex was destroyed the training target in the Central part of the Black sea at a distance of 90 km on combat duty have taken up the complex "Ball".

NATO-RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Since 2012, the number placed military contingents of NATO on Russia's Western borders have tripled.

In the Baltic States and Poland deployed four battalion tactical groups, armored brigade of the US army, the headquarters of the multinational divisions to NATO in Poland and Romania.

The strength of the primary involvement of the Alliance has increased from 10 to 40 thousand soldiers, and the period of their readiness is reduced from 45 to 30 days.

The US missile defense system in Europe is brought to the level of initial operational capability. Its elements are also deployed in Japan and South Korea.

The intensity of aerial reconnaissance NATO the Russian borders has increased three and a half times the half times.

While Russia strongly suppresses any attempt to violate the Russian airspace and Maritime borders.

NATO in two times increased the intensity of military exercises on Russia's borders.

In 2014, the Alliance held 282 exercises, and in 2017 already 548. Every year at the Western borders of Russia is carried out more than 30 exercises, scenarios which are based on armed confrontation with Russia.

Russia keeps track of every NATO exercise and taking appropriate measures.

To respond to new threats and maintain the strategic balance Russian side expanded patrol routes long-range aircraft and campaigns of the ships.

ABOUT the TEACHINGS: "the West 2017"

From 14 to 20 September 2017, held a joint strategic exercises "West-2017" (THC "West 2017") of the armed forces of the Union state of Russia and Belarus.

Training

For the preparation of bodies of military management of the armed forces of the Federal States to exercise "Zapad-2017" with the beginning of the year were held a number of joint command and staff training and exercises. When designing exercises were taken into account modern approaches to the use of troops (forces) on the basis of the experience of modern armed conflicts, as well as of joint activities of operational training of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

Goal
