The project is devoted to the study questions the historical heritage of the Russian army, its traditions, selfless way. We study how the strategic management of forces and means for solving diverse problems. Particular attention is paid to the development of the Armed Forces in Modern stage, assessing the effectiveness of individual steps, as well as military reform in general. Also assessed the views of foreign analysts on the issues of construction of the Russian armed forces.

Feat of the soldier, immortalized in bronze

65 years ago, on 8 may 1949 in Berlin's Treptow Park was inaugurated the memorial complex, created in 1947 – 1949 by the architect Yakov Belopolsky and sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich. A Grand memorial has immortalized the feat of soldiers and officers of the red Army who died in the last days of world war II while liberating the capital of Germany from the Nazi evil.

Forever twenty years. 90 years since the birth of the sniper Rose saninas

Exactly 90 years ago, April 3, 1924, was born the Roza Yegorovna Shanina, a participant of the great Patriotic war, Soviet single sniper. Roza Shanina became the first female commander of the Order of Glory. She carried a war at the front for less than a year, but managed to chalk up a score of 59 confirmed killed soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht, including 12 enemy snipers. Also on account of a girl with "flower" in the name were three taken prisoner Nazis. Roza Shanina was killed on 28 January 1945 during the East Prussian offensive operations, failing to meet 21st birthday.

Twenty-five years ago, on 15 February 1989, the last of the Soviet troops left Afghanistan. There, far from home, our soldiers and officers in the 80-ies of the last century took on the mission to save the world from emerging threats of international terrorism. About participation of Soviet troops in the Afghan war is written a lot. However, despite a wide range of topics addressed in the publications, there remains a lot of white spots in its history. Among them — the actions of the Soviet special forces against the armed opposition in Afghanistan. And this is understandable: in the USSR everything related to special forces troops, of course, was shrouded in secrecy. Today of some of the episodes hard, not knowing compromises of the struggle of a SWAT breaks into Afghanistan from neighboring countries by gangs of Mujahideen says the combat veteran in this country, a retired Colonel Ivan Ivanovich TARANENKO.
