Why Syria?

In the late 90-ies of the last century to power in Afghanistan the Taliban came. US-backed Islamic movement that drove the "Northern Alliance" — their main opponents, thus gaining almost full control over the country. And then as if by accident it was found that in Afghanistan to put a pipeline, which would have repeated the route of the Caspian. The purpose of the pipeline was transporting natural gas from Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey to the European market. Then Europe would no longer depend on Russia.

In the early 2000s took place a meeting between Taliban leaders and U.S. assistant Secretary of state Richard Armitage. He offered them a deal: to put another pipeline through Afghanistan and Pakistan to the Arabian sea. This project was led by fellow Californian oil company "Unocal" Hamid Karzai. Unfortunately for the Taliban, they refused. When their delegation arrived in the US, Armitage said, "Either through the shower you in gold or bombs, but you will accept our offer".

A year later the States authorize the invasion of Afghanistan. The Taliban will be overthrown and Hamid Karzai was appointed President. If you look at a map, you can see that the major American military bases are located along the route, which should run the pipeline. The funds for its construction will be allocated from the highly profitable opium trade.

But what does all this have to do with Syria? She is the last figure in the chess game, removing that is, States will achieve multiple reduction of Russian gas exports to Europe, which will be a heavy blow to the economy of Russia and Gazprom.

Syria started with a couple of things. And the first of them: the discovery of natural gas fields on the Mediterranean coast. This happened about ten years ago, but the point is that this area was already a major earner of liquefied natural gas – Qatar.

Now judge for yourself: the reserves of Qatar account for more than 77 billion tons of gas. And he would like to sell it to European and Mediterranean markets. The problem is that Saudi Arabia said no to the construction of the onshore pipeline. Therefore, Qatar does not remain anything else how to make a deal with the United States.

In may this year signed a contract for the sale of gas in the amount of 10 billion dollars between "Exxon Mobile" and "Qatar Petroleum International". This allows us oil giant to export from Texas to the UK and Mediterranean markets. The only thing that stands in the way of Qatar is Syria.

In turn, the States do focus on the other – its natural gas reserves, exports of which this country has one of the most Bolshie passenger market. Britain m Janome giant to export from Texas. The reason that the price of this fuel in the U.S. for a long time was underestimated, can be explained — they are preparing the groundwork for intervention on the European market, while will destroy the Russian monopoly.

The agreement on the construction of "Nabucco" was signed in 2009 by several European countries and Turkey. It was agreed to let the pipeline through Turkey to Austria, bypassing Russia. In the role of provider again spoke of Qatar. And again, with Russia behind Syria was the main obstacle.

Interesting is the fact that the fiercest fighting taking place in Damascus, HOMS and Aleppo. By chance these are the cities which should run the pipeline. Spending about $ 3 billion, Qatar has become the largest sponsor of the slaughter in Syria. But Saudi Arabia also provided financial support to anti-government groups. The Saudis want to overthrow Assad and put at the head of the country of his puppets, which, by signing the contract for construction, were charging would charge Qatar for running up to the Nabucco gas pipeline.

For this reason, in Syria, there are two opposition groups. On the one hand the Muslim brotherhood and their affiliated organizations, which have close ties with the Emir of Qatar. And supported by Saudi Arabia's Wahhabi al-Qaeda and its offshoots. The result of this grab-bag of various atrocities, including cannibalism and the slaughter of Christians.

The U.S., eager to remove Russia from the lucrative European energy market and to acquire its ownership interest in natural gas. It is important to understand that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are puppets of the Anglo-American coalition. The States will win, no matter who of these two countries to overthrow Assad. Actually everything was decided in 2009. But then again Russia is on the way.

The recent banking fiasco in Cyprus happened for a reason – his ultimate goal was to obtain control over the Russian oligarchs who "by accident" were closely associated with the energy industry. Luckily warned in time, so they moved their funds. However, this precedent did not remain without attention of Putin. A week later several Russian warships have docked in the ports of Cyprus. Thus, Putin made it clear to the West that it is better not to play.

Now Russia faces a very difficult task. It is not just about the loss of Tartus, and about loss of control over energy resources from the Middle East to the Caspian sea. She just can't allow that to happen and therefore is mobilizing its forces in the region. China also cannot afford intervention in the energy sector, due to which was United with Russia.
