Dreikaiserbundnis, the Union of three emperors (Germany, Russia and Austria-Hungary), in the opinion of Chancellor Bismarck's, was a magic formula by which it was possible to lay a geopolitical Foundation for all of continental Europe, as well as to achieve some equilibrium in the relationship between the old Europe with its monarchical regimes, embarked on the path of accelerated industrial development, and the Anglo-Saxon world, the ruler of the seas, a policy which was based on the continuous convergence of the two shores of the Atlantic.
During the modern tripartite (France-Germany-Russia) meetings held last week with the participation of the new German Chancellor Angela Merkel, had the impression that in the early twenty-first-century air again soar the ideas of Bismarck. But the triple Alliance, designed by Bismarck in the sunset of his career, proved to be unsustainable. Whether because of the reckless behavior of his clumsy successor Wilhelm II (hypothesis, favoured in Germany), either because of internal contradictions, which shook the Union from the very beginning of its existence (hypothesis, which adhere to Anglo-Saxon and French historians). Was whether the new Union, born of similar foreign courses Paris, Berlin and Moscow, equally uncertain future? With respect to the first Union created by Bismarck, and now it is not difficult to understand why the idea has not worked as intended. The Union was created to solve pressing problems, no one thought about his future in the long term. In short, Bismarck wanted one shot to kill three birds with one stone: to gain leverage over Russia, which embarked on the path of industrialization, and the power which grew with each passing day, the multinational Austro-Hungary, which was turned into a Federation, and Germany itself, where he began the process of rapprochement between the Catholic South and the Protestant North of Germany, forced to pay constant attention to the requirements of Vienna.
Besides Austro-Hungarian foreign policy of Germany from this Union only won, however, the Russian side demanded that Berlin is becoming more and more serious concessions: so Germany gradually had to accept the expansion of Russia, which she carried out at the expense of the Ottoman Empire, and come to terms with the thought of possible clashes at sea with the British Empire, firmly tuned to prevent Russian expansion. Even Bismarck, in the end, began to torment doubts, whether to pay for this Union such an exorbitant price. Meanwhile France, upset at the loss of Alsace and Lorraine, and established a lasting peaceful relations with London, could afford to become a banker, a lawyer and an unstable Russian Imperial power. Now let's try to unravel the tangle of conceptual errors present in the creation of the continental triumvirate: in this case we are talking about changing the targets and giving a new sound fading relations between France and Germany. Since then, as Germany was re-unified, the Alliance with France stopped playing for her - to put it mildly - an important role.
The representative of France, whose post-colonial policies of globalization collapsed, and which belatedly entered the arena of geostrategic days future (India, China, and unified the Turkish-Iranian space that has yet to occur), does not see any support after the stabilization of the Euro she may have Germany. Moreover, in China these two European States behave as rivals and competitors in its quest to control the specific technological niches. But as soon as we turn to Russia, the picture immediately becomes different: no state in the old Europe does not have sufficient scale to become a privileged partner of the Russian giant, even usatogo in size in comparison with the Soviet Union. Moreover, with their inherent shrewdness of Soviet strategists of the end of Gorbachev's era already predicted the necessity of the departure from Stalinist juggling between France and Germany, when Soviet Russia alternately flirted with one country or the other in order to prevent a rapprochement between them. In the context of the growing influence of China can result in a lot of arguments in favor of aid to Russia in its technological rebirth in exchange for the conclusion of this energy and industrial partnership with the Franco-German conglomerate extended. Given the current state of things, when the relationship has not yet acquired stability, the Union is primarily to convince the Americans and the British that he was not plotting anything contrary to their interests.
Adhesions France's foreign policy-Germany should not in any way to harm British interests; the establishment of a European continental pole should eventually enhance the performance of the global anti-Islamic coalition, and not result in rendering each other all sorts of services in the fight against ideological opponents and common. If such an adjustment happens, conservative Germany, will continue to gravitate towards London, and oscillating Russia can make peace with Washington. France will be given the dubious honour of cleaning the remnants of the Banquet, which will have to continue. What would be extremely upset, because the new version of the three emperors - this is the real formula of the future, which can bring stability in our poor and suffering of a multipolar world.
