Scientists: by 2030 humanity will face little ice age
Material posted: Publication date: 27-07-2019
On Earth there may come a miniature ice age, scientists warn. A new study has shown that in the period between 2020 and 2030 the solar cycle can neutralize each other, leading to the phenomenon known as the Maunder Minimum. What is it? But most importantly — how to prevent it?

When will there be a new ice age

A new model of solar activity, which has been developed by scientists, shows a violation of the 11-year cyclicity. It describes the particular effects in the two layers of the Sun, for which this star for some time will not be able to heat us as well as have been for the last hundreds of years. According to experts, by 2030 the solar activity will decrease by 60 percent, leading to a small ice age. The results of the study were presented at the meeting of astronomers in Wales.

The researchers say that in the 26th solar cycle which falls in the period between 2020 and 2030, two waves of the Sun cancel each other out. As a result of their destructive interaction will be a significant decline in solar activity (that is on Earth will become much colder) and there will be new Murderously Low.

The Maunder minimum – the phenomenon of long-term reduction in the number of sunspots, which have already occurred from 1645 to 1715. Then even froze the river Thames in London! Waves can be in phase and enhance the activity of the Sun or, conversely, to be out of phase and reduce the solar activity to a minimum: in the latter case, and there comes the little ice age.

Global warming will cause an ice age

The melting of glaciers in Antarctica, 2019

Now it seems strange, because we all see how hot it gets now is in Europe. And the area of Antarctic sea ice at the beginning of this year fell to 5.5 million square kilometers and is at least almost 40 years of observations. But most experts are concerned about the rate of temperature rise of the ocean. With a decrease the absorption ability of the ocean heat begins to accumulate in the atmosphere. This leads to the violation of thermal balance of the Earth.

How global warming will cause an ice age? Due to the rapid melting of glaciers disturbed the circulation of warm currents. After that, the temperature in Europe, North America and around the world will significantly fall: the violation of the circulation of warm currents will not move heat from the equator to Europe and North America. But the worst thing is if you completely stop the Gulf stream — the main warm current, which creates a warm climate in Europe. As strange as it may sound, global warming will subsequently lead to cold.

How to prevent an ice age

Actually from person a little that depends. Even if we reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere by the processes that occur in the Sun, we can not influence. And if to try to stop the warming, solar activity sooner or later will fall. If scientists found a violation of the 11-year cycles, so it is. Another question is whether it will be as bad as they say? While nobody undertakes to speak about it.

How to survive in the ice age

At the time, Neanderthals were able to survive the harsh ice age. What are we worse? In their case, due to active hunting and the risk of running into predators, injuries were part and parcel of life. If they ignored the wounded and treated them as an unnecessary burden, they would simply not have survived. As a rule, Neanderthals kept groups, and the loss of even one member was considered a disaster. Simply put, survived thanks to the care of each other.

Modern humanity is unlikely to be limited, one concern — is still at our disposal so much more technology.
