The water level in the oceans rises faster calculation index

The study, which allowed to find out the speed of the raising water level, is based on a sufficiently large sample of data. The scientists took the informationtransmitted by the satellites for 25 years and subjected her to a detailed analysis by means of computer systems. As it turned out, the warming and melting ice play a major role in accelerating the process of "flooding".

The problem is that previous estimates of the rate of water level were based on old results. And they were not too reliable, because it does not take into account a number of factors, including the accelerating melting of the eternal ice. According to experts, even small changes in the current water level in seas and oceans will greatly affect the state of the environment and coastal towns. So, floods and soil erosion can become constant companions of such settlements.

"The concerns of the residents of such regions can become a reality by the year 2100 — just a few decades," said Kathy Serafin of the University of Oregon. Over the past 25 years, the water level in the oceans rose by 7.5 cm. Approximately half of this growth was due to the melting ice. Now the process of accelerated melting, and more ice starts to turn into liquid water in Greenland and Antarctica.

Rising water, in turn, has a strong influence on the climate, which is changing even faster. It regulates measures to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from 2020.
