The defeat of Gaddafi has elevated Qatar
Material posted: Publication date: 29-11-2011

2011 can be called "the year of Qatar". The events in Syria and especially in Libya are clear evidence of the emergence of new regional powers, the title of which, until recently, meant little to ordinary people.

The overthrow of Gaddafi has led to a radical change of situation in Africa. If you consider that in February 2011, fell another Qatari foe, Mubarak, Qatar has almost remained the same opponents in the struggle for Doha in the country of the Black continent.

It has become quite clear that the Qatari Emir played a key role in the fall of his old enemy Gaddafi. Of course, several hundred Qatari military were unable to break the Colonel without the aid of NATO air. As you know, the armed forces of Qatar — one of the smallest in the region. Much greater importance was the information and financial support to the rebels, played a very important role in changing the Libyan authorities.

Now the Qatari Emir is actively trying to topple the Libyan example and other media ideas of Arab socialism — Syrian President Assad. We will remind that the NATO aggression against Libya was preceded by the suspension of the membership of that country in the League of Arab States (LAS). Next Doha was made by one of the main venues of the implementation of the plan to overthrow Gaddafi. It is here that discussed the change of strategy and tactics against Libya after the regime of Colonel demonstrated survivability. And Qatar has become one of the main centers of information warfare against Gaddafi.

A very similar scenario Qatar is trying to implement in Syria. He almost shouts the loudest about the mass violations of human rights in this country and in fact, trying to take in hand the implementation of anti-Syrian initiatives. It helps to pay attention to personal activity of His Majesty, which does not shun to come to Damascus to order the ultimate to put forward unrealistic conditions-Assad and then arrange for his spanking in the LOG. In many ways, this performance demonstrates the importance of tiny Qatar among Arab countries and gives the appearance that it sets the tone for the region.

It is significant that he gets it. Surprising ways even for those countries with which the Qatari Emir were, to put it mildly, uneasy relationship, like Algeria and Sudan, in this case, dance to his tune.

Furthermore, their actions clearly outshines Qatar Saudi Arabia, traditionally regarded itself as the undisputed leader not only in the region but generally in the Arab world, and uses its longstanding ties with Iran.

Unlike the Saudis, he is not confined to the sedition with the help of creation of money on special "educational" funds and other Wahhabi cells. Qatar is actively using to promote their interests not only the proceeds from the sale of energy resources and primarily gas huge cash reserves, but also such modern facilities as television. And in this sense, the creation and subsequent promotion of the TV channel "al Jazeera" gave the Qataris a huge trump card to achieve results through information warfare. What we saw in Libya, of course, suggests that the Qataris have surpassed this skill Western "teachers", including CNN.

But the interesting thing is that the West is using Qatar as a club to achieve its goals in Libya, they risk getting a very different result. Now Qatar is seeking to consolidate the results of victory, which cannot but worry the West. And when after the death of Gaddafi his enemies began to share power, the Qatari Emir is trying to subjugate the situation for themselves, despite the fact that this is contrary to the interests of France, which he largely and was tied economically.

As you know, the French and the entire West, have relied on the "liberal" PNS, whereas Qatar for the Islamists. Doha continues to Fund and provide weapons to Libyan Islamists who are already beginning to prevail in Libya.

Moreover, the Qataris openly interfere in the process of formation of structure of Executive power of the country. And it's not limited to only promoting their henchmen to key positions (the success of this clearly demonstrates the members of the municipality of Tripoli), but instructions, how and what to do next. It is significant that it causes obvious irritation in the PNS. So, "liberal" countries Ali Cartoni openly indicated to Qatar that it should be "before you enter the house, knock on the door."

Of course, completely ignore the interests of the West, which is largely the guarantor of the security of Qatar, the Emir. However, he clearly does not intend to fully comply with the "wishes" of Sarkozy. For, first, in this case one can speak of interdependence. Secondly, to fight ahead of time, when at stake is the decision of the fate of Syria, the parties obviously will not. But for the near future.

As for what will be "later", that Qatar is clearly in a more advantageous position in Libya than the French. And it's not just that the words of the Qatari Emir can promise them anything, and in fact, continue tacitly to support the Libyan radicals. Suffice it to recall that NATO has ceased operation there, while hundreds of Qatari military continue to be on the Libyan land and to exert a tangible influence on events in that country.

And the Qatari example disproves the old install on that Central characteristics influence one of the two powers are the dimensions of its area, population and military might.
