Politics – "psychometrist", or Why the quarantine in Moscow can lead to an increase in diseases and crime
Material posted: Publication date: 31-05-2020
Scientists are trying to prove that epidemiological measures can bring great harm to the health of people, comparable in size with the harm from the virus. But politicians, as a rule, continue to operate under the previously established patterns.

In mass media in recent years has spread the statements of the Russian doctor, specialist in epidemiology, medical statistics, demography, philosophy and social medicine, doctor of medical Sciences Professor Igor Gundarov.

According to his concept, the entire population of the planet or the absolute most it is healthy carriers of the coronavirus. The epidemic also occurs as a reaction to the weakened immune systems in large parts of the population. And the immune system heavily depends on the mental state of people.

For this reason, in the period of exacerbation of the epidemic, it is important not to impair the immune system. However, strict quarantine measures just kill the immune system of people trapped in their homes and receiving alarming information from the media about the growing number of cases and deaths.

"Why do some get sick while others remain healthy? It's a matter of immunity and the ability of the body to resist aggression. In turn, immunity is highly dependent on the psyche. In a state of fear, panic, anguish, despair the immune system is reset", – says Igor Gundarov.

"In the whole country the harder [quarantine] mode, the worse the result", – said the Professor.

The opinion of Professor Igor Gundarov especially noteworthy and relevant today when anti-epidemic measures taken in Moscow in the period of the epidemic, causing a storm of criticism of the capital's residents.

IA FederalCity asked to comment on the statements of Igor Gundarov clinical psychologist, family therapist Anita Dmitriev.

Commenting on some aspects of the concept Gundarova, Dmitrieva says:

"Responses to media messages depend on the level of psychosocial intelligence, General knowledge, level of emotional stability (ability to control passion), susceptibility to influence and suggestibility. That is all individually. The higher the emotional and psychological flexibility and the maturity of the person, the lower his risk of falling from any somatic disease, because the body works in "regular" mode.

Absolutely everything mentally irritants adversely affect overall health.

With the aim of preserving the basic life support, the body can "slow down" or "disable" some functions useless (in a state of panic, anguish and depression in the first place are inhibited digestive, excretory and reproductive system).

Stress hormonal changes in the body (due to activation of sympathoadrenal system and restructuring of the endocrine system). The work of the sympathetic system provides a rush of blood to the muscles and tissues of the brain. At this time, if we do not move actively and do not solve important problems, there is a physiological paradox. In addition, the chronic stress load, if there is no discharge (not connected parasympathetic system, which restores all organs after stress), it begins to develop depression.

When the adaptive forces of the body at the end, and we don't know "when this is all over" when and how to come help, the body "begins to be sad" with all its somatic consequences. Ie, after the function of the button "on" should work "off", otherwise you can expect total failure of the system."

So Anita Dmitriev explains the statement of Igor Gundarov that after the complete abolition of quarantine measures we are waiting for the surge of effects of post-traumatic stress, aggravations of various diseases, mass depression.

Commenting on the thesis of professors that strict quarantine measures that have been taken in Moscow in the period of the epidemic, not only do not have practical meaning, but also worsen the health of the population, Anita Dmitrieva told that, indeed, observing the condition of their clients, she noticed: there were more complaints about the deterioration of nighttime sleep.

"Techniques of recovery quite a lot, but they must be accompanied by:

  • effective physical activity;
  • high saturation of blood with oxygen (especially the brain cells);
  • the absence of disturbing factors," said social psychologist.

Igor Gundarov says that incompetent in the field of health policy inadvertently become a "psychobiologically": pumping panic, they cause a drop in immunity, resulting in the "rise" of infectious diseases, alcohol abuse, rising crime.

Commenting on this statement of the Professor, Anita Dmitriev notes that since anxiety affects the quality of nighttime sleep (or leads to its absence), and there is a direct relationship with the immune system.

"During the deep phase of the night's sleep is the pineal gland. This organ produces melatonin, which affects many processes in the body. It provides a sufficient amount of sleep, health and youthfulness of the body. Proven that melatonin has antioxidant, antitumoral, anti-stress and immune stimulating effects.

The maximum amount of melatonin is produced in deep sleep between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m. Because in other times, this hormone is practically not produced, if you don't sleep in these hours, the body's defenses are weakened.

Thus, in the absence of normal sleep, there is no guarantee the stable operation of the immune system," – said Dmitriev.

"With the growing anxiety on the background of the current uncertain employment and the impact of the crisis, under the influence of the environmental factors (the effect of the "crowd"), resilience, adaptive capacity of coping with difficult life situation is reduced. In a state of anxiety a person is more difficult to cope with the affect because of the narrow "window of tolerance", cognitive processing of the situation (thinking) is difficult, because aktiviziruyutsya the amygdala of the brain and reduced working capacity the "youngest" brain structures – the cerebral cortex, the reactivity of the behavior increases. All of this can theoretically lead to an increase in crime," concludes the expert.

Earlier IA FederalCity reportedthat the Nobel prize in chemistry, Stanford University Professor Michael Levitt believes that the introduction of strict quarantine because of the coronavirus – a result of panic among the world's governments. In fact, the lockdown [quarantine] did not save lives and may cost many lives and brought extreme social damage in the form of domestic violence, divorce, alcoholism, death of those who did not receive treatment for other diseases.
